The Foundation is the home of numerous industry-leading projects and collaborations including Adoptium, Software Defined Vehicle (SDV), Eclipse IDE, IoT and Jakarta EE.  Supported by over 350 members globally, the Foundation has an established international reach and reputation. 

The Eclipse SDV working group is dedicated to developing a new and innovative software platform for the world’s automotive industry. The SDV initiative has the support of leading companies across the automotive, IT, cloud, silicon, and services industries, all of which are necessary to create the platform and ecosystem that will drive innovation for the next generation of mobility solutions.  Members of the SDV working group include Accenture, Bosch, Capgemini, Cariad, Continental Automotive, Cummins, Electrobit, ETAS, Futurewei Technologies, General Motors, LGE, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Red Hat, T-Systems, and ZF Group among others. 

The Manager, SDV Ecosystem Development will have a direct leadership impact on growing industry adoption of our open source automotive products, projects, specifications, and technologies. The Role

Reporting to the Vice President Ecosystem Development, the successful candidate will focus on recruiting new members to Eclipse SDV and maintain its position as the preeminent open source community for automotive software. You will pursue global opportunities with the leading automotive companies and build and nurture relationships with key decision makers and line of business owners. The ideal candidate will have a passion for establishing the Eclipse Foundation as the place for the industry to collaborate on developing commercial-grade automotive open source. The candidate will leverage their experience and network in the automotive industry.


  • Recruit new members from around the world to Eclipse SDV Working Group
  • Be the primary contact for SDV members and manage the dialogue between the Eclipse Foundation and these members.
  • Identify and cultivate contacts with existing and potential members.
  • Collaborate with the Eclipse SDV Working Group program manager to identify new projects that members and potential members want to open source at the Eclipse Foundation.
  • Manage member retention.
  • Be an advocate of the benefits of using open source to foster collaboration in industry.
  • Represent the Eclipse Foundation as a speaker at selected conferences and participate in selected trade fairs and conferences. 
  • Work with the Community Development team to monitor and report on the activities of the SDV Working Group. Be the liaison between the SDV Working Group members and the other Eclipse Foundation staff.


  • Minimum 8 years of relevant software industry experience, including 5 years or more experience in Business Development
  • Good understanding of the role of software in the automotive series production lifecycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German or French
  • Proven ability to influence without direct control or authority
  • A willingness and aptitude to network with stakeholders at all levels within the industry
  • Desire to work in a creative and interesting international environment that values initiative and perseverance
  • Ability to manage your own time effectively and responsibly and involve others when required
  • Flexibility to travel in pursuit of business goals
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and distributed team


  • Multilingual
  • Experience in working with the open source software ecosystem and its potential to drive innovation and economic growth in Europe
  • Experience in coalition-building
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Open Source ecosystems


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, engineering or computer science.

  • Work from where you are, this is a remote position that can be located anywhere in Europe
