Mid-Level German Copywriter (Social Media Content) (12-month contract) based in Berlin, hybrid working model

Important Note: Only applicants that include a portfolio and are currently based in Berlin will be eligible for this position.

Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

Our team

We're an international group of makers, builders and doers who still believe in the original promise of the internet — a place to find purpose and happiness and freedom. The Creative Studio partners with marketing to test and learn our way to compelling, needle-moving campaigns, content and creative assets for our core brands: Mozilla, Firefox and more to come. We're the stewards of these product brands — and all of them are on the precipice of change.

Our Studio team has insight into all of the business strategies and initiatives at Mozilla and its different products. It’s a dynamic and exciting team that helps to craft public perception of issues like online privacy and responsible tech and make those topics relevant and accessible to our audiences.

The Role

As a Mid-Level German Copywriter with a focus on Social Media Content, you will build compelling and engaging copy that resonates with Mozilla's distinctive voice across our social media channels. You will play a meaningful role within our European marketing team, improving engagement and conveying our fundamental values to the German-speaking community. Reporting to the Associate Art Director for Social Media, you will be a key member of our European Creative Studio team. You will work closely with the Studio team as well as the Comms team who are accountable for Mozilla's Social Media Channels.

You Are:

  • Adept at crafting engaging, concise, and persuasive copy specifically tailored for our German social media channels.
  • Creative and strategic, with a knack for storytelling that resonates with the audience.
  • A team player who thrives in collaborative settings, offering and welcoming feedback.

You Will:

  • Develop and execute creative copy for various social media campaigns, aligning with our brand's voice and mission.
  • Work closely with designers and content creators to ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms.
  • Analyze and adapt content strategies based on performance metrics, optimizing for engagement and reach.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends to keep our content fresh and relevant.

Your Professional Profile:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, German Language and Literature, or a related field.
  • You bring 4+ years of dedicated experience in copywriting, with a significant focus on content creation for social media.
  • You possess an excellent command of the German language (native level) and are fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • You demonstrate a proven ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams in a remote work environment.
