Job Description

Sonar solves the trillion-dollar challenge of bad code. Sonar equips organizations to achieve and sustain a Clean Code state by empowering developers to write consistent, intentional, adaptable, and responsible code. Clean Code produces software that is maintainable, reliable, and secure, allowing development teams to spend less time fixing issues and more time innovating. With Sonar, and by employing the company’s Clean as You Code methodology, organizations minimize risk, reduce technical debt, increase productivity, and derive more value from their software in a predictable and sustainable way.

Sonar’s open-source and commercial products – SonarLint, SonarCloud, and SonarQube – support over 30 programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure technologies. Trusted by more than 500,000 organizations and used by more than 7 million developers globally to clean more than half a trillion lines of code, Sonar is integral to delivering better software.

The IT Operations team is looking for a passionate AWS Cloud Platform Engineer experienced with Infrastructure as Code AWS CDK Python library to support the continued growth of the company.

The Impact you can have
In this role, you will leverage your experience and expertise to build and maintain new IT Infrastructure and Security services in the cloud. This means implementing massively scalable services, automating all system operations, measuring, and continuously improving the service quality.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Evolve and operate cloud-based solutions with automation, scalability, and performance in mind.
  • Continuously and proactively enhance the architecture design and implementation, taking into account performance, security, disaster recovery, and costs.
  • Perform and automate operational tasks such as deployments with a DevOps mindset.
  • Document as-is and future state solutions to ensure evergreen documentation is maintained.
  • Collaborate with engineers to enhance operational resilience, scalability, and observability.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (CTO, data team, release engineers, etc.) to make sure solutions fit into the Sonar ecosystem.
  • Document and share reusable building blocks.
  • Own testability of the infrastructure (deploy, validate, tear-down).
  • Maintain physical and logical plans.
  • Take planned steps to ensure that all platforms and capabilities operate within a given region and account limits to ensure scalability.
  • Dedicate effort to improve resilience and scalability tests in performance environments to stay ahead of growth inhibitors.
  • Participate in AWS Well-Architected Reviews and Trusted Advisor findings resolution.

The skills you will demonstrate

  • Prod-oriented, AWS Cloud background, and belief in having DevOps profiles working together as a tightly-knit team.
  • You are motivated by both the technical and the functional aspects of services.
  • Experience in supporting production services with good security practices.
  • You are trained and believe in leveraging managed services.
  • You are a friendly, attentive, enthusiastic, and organized team player.
  • Solid experience with architecture: experience with delivering cloud-native applications, architecture modelling, and implementation on AWS.
  • You see yourself as a Cloud Platform Engineer who knows how to implement the blueprints you designed.
  • Motivated by both technical and functional aspects of services, you understand the value of code over presentations and see yourself as an engineer at heart.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS implementations and automating deployments.
  • Strong understanding of software development practices: quality, testing (unit, functional, and resilience), and CI/CD.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using the AWS CDK python library.
  • Experience with AWS Well-Architected Review and/or AWS certification.
  • Developing in Python and Bash with clean code is a must. You enjoy exploring new technologies.
  • Comfortable with agile practices and principles by working in sprints.
  • A DevOps mindset is a must-have.
Why you will love it here
