Job Description

Sonar solves the trillion-dollar challenge of bad code. Sonar equips organizations to achieve and sustain a Clean Code state by empowering developers to write consistent, intentional, adaptable, and responsible code. Clean Code produces software that is maintainable, reliable, and secure, allowing development teams to spend less time fixing issues and more time innovating. With Sonar, and by employing the company’s Clean as You Code methodology, organizations minimize risk, reduce technical debt, increase productivity, and derive more value from their software in a predictable and sustainable way.

Sonar’s open-source and commercial products – SonarLint, SonarCloud, and SonarQube – support over 30 programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure technologies. Trusted by more than 500,000 organizations and used by more than 7 million developers globally to clean more than half a trillion lines of code, Sonar is integral to delivering better software.

The impact you will have

We are dedicated to delivering the best Sonar products to developers and organizations who care about their code; generating world-class documentation is an important part of this goal. You will bring a unique skill set to complement an international group of technical writers who have a wide range of experience. Your impact will be applied on many levels: in the production of clear and concise content, executed in all forms of media (text, images, diagrams), and by supporting the improvement of our documentation's global architecture.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Help drive the overall documentation strategy.
  • Work with all Sonar products to produce, manage, and publish documentation.
  • Work closely with software developers, UX designers, and product managers to generate and improve content.
  • Engage with the user community and our services team to understand user needs.
  • Play a key role in the team to identify creative approaches with solutions that actively promote collaboration and teamwork.

The technical skills you will demonstrate

  • Minimum of 3 years of technical writing experience preferred with strong communication skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in English with a fluid, laid-back writing style. Our standard is American English.
  • The ability to explain complex ideas in an easy-to-understand way with a passion for technology.
  • A pragmatic approach to writing, with a focus on iterative improvement processes in a team-based environment.
  • Autonomous and able to make the best decision and course of action with limited information.
  • Ability to support context-switching.
  • Experience with agile practices and principles.
  • Some familiarity with the software development process is a definite plus.
  • Experience with or a strong interest in coding and DevOps is highly desirable.
  • Experience with a headless CMS and Git is a plus.

The soft skills you will demonstrate

  • Open-minded and positive can-do attitude.
  • Lifelong learner, excited to explore new approaches.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and receptive to feedback.
  • Talented in building and managing relationships.
Why you will love it here

• We value a safe work culture - founded in respect, kindness, and the right to fail.
• We hire great people - we value communication skills as much as technical prowess and we strive to create a work environment that allows for everyone to succeed and feel empowered to do their best work. Our 500+ SonarSourcers from 35 different nationalities can relate!
• Work-life balance - a healthy work-life balance is very important at Sonar.
• Flexible hours - we schedule our days in order to be effective at work, while also being able to enjoy life’s important moments.
• We promote continuous learning - in an ever-changing industry, learning new skills is the key to growth and success! We're happy to support all employees in this journey if desired.
