Job purpose

We are seeking a Research Analyst to focus on political, military, economic, social, information and infrastructure risk environments of the Balkan region (including Bulgaria and Romania). The successful candidate will have a strong track record of sourcing and creating content relevant for this role and will be able to demonstrate their subject matter expertise of European security issues.

How you will contribute to Janes

The successful analyst will research and write on security issues, including both state and non-state threats, affecting the Balkan region. They will also research, assess, and produce national security focused country reports as well as same-day and in-depth insight on risk environments.

Requirements

  • A proven track record of writing detailed security threat reports on the Balkans involving deep-dive OSINT research techniques.
  • Detailed and extensive knowledge of geopolitical issues impacting the region.
  • An effective team worker with excellent attention to detail.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline such as international relations or war studies.
  • Complete fluency in English and experience in producing written analysis to a high degree of literacy.
  • Knowledge of any local languages from the region is preferable.
  • A body of previously published work relevant to this role is a plus.
