Janes enables militaries, governments, and defence companies to make critical decisions. Our expert-driven tradecraft, developed over 120 years, combined with human-machine teaming, delivers assured open-source intelligence across military capabilities and order of battle, equipment, events, countries, companies, and markets.
Linking millions of assured data points, Janes data model creates a framework of interconnected open-source defence intelligence. This allows our customers to integrate all relevant data and connections into a single intelligence environment to deliver a more complete and accurate answer. Using Janes, our customers can use their scarce resource more effectively, to get to better decisions with higher confidence, more quickly.
Janes is searching for an experienced Data Governance Manager to be based at our Croydon HQ. This role will be working across all Janes Research, Data and Analysis departments with the objective of applying high-level data governance principles to our content and data assets. This includes, but is not limited to, unstructured content in the form of news, analysis and images, structured content, and the overarching Janes content and data model.
Joining our friendly Content Architecture and Data Governance team, you will report into the Executive Director for Content working closely with a small group of colleagues who are responsible for the conceptual and logical framework of the Janes data model, the metrication of Janes content/data assets, and with members of the team who are working as Product Owners for our content platforms.
As this role will be focused on our productised content, data, and workflows rather than business data we are looking at the extension of a lightweight framework within which we can operate standardised processes with pragmatism being key. Where possible these governance processes and steps will be built into existing workflows and tools.
This role will also be the key liaison between the Research, Data and Analysis area and our Product teams, working closely with Product Owners and Managers in those areas to coordinate releases and documentation, and our technical teams, including technical data governance colleagues, data architects, and the wider development teams.
