MOBIUS (mobiusconsortium.org) is a not-for-profit, 501 (C)(3) tax-exempt organization that is transforming library services with cost-effective help desk, training, technical resources, courier management, and procurement services. The MOBIUS consortium comprises 71 libraries with over 120 branches, which includes 63 academic libraries, 5 public libraries, 3 special libraries, and the Missouri State Library.
MOBIUS is proud to be an open source consortium, providing FOLIO to 61 of our academic libraries on a shared tenant. We went live on FOLIO on May 22, 2024.
We are one of the founding members of OpenRS, the open source resource sharing platform. MOBIUS was the first to go live with OpenRS on June 12, 2024, with FOLIO, Sierra, and Polaris libraries. The consortium's purpose is to share library materials, information, and services using accessible, cost-effective methods.
In line with our support for open source software, MOBIUS also offers Hyku, an open source institutional repository platform, to our member libraries as well as the open source archiving and digital display platforms ArchivesSpace and Omeka. We help our libraries promote access to open and affordable resources and enhance student success through our OER partnerships, services, and training opportunities.
The MOBIUS Central Office is located in Columbia, Missouri, and its customers and members span the states of Missouri, Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Arkansas, Texas, and Massachusetts.
