About the Role

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will lead the organization responsible for the SaaS platform that is driving CloudBees’ future growth. Your mandate is to evolve a team with a high talent density into a high-performance engine that operates efficiently and delivers consistently. You will be a key strategic partner to product and GTM, alongside peer senior engineering leaders to ensure the platform accelerates exceptional product delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction: Define the technical vision and architectural North Star to ensure platform evolution consistently accelerates product delivery and future growth.
  • Operational Rigor: Establish clear engineering standards, process definitions, and ownership models to eliminate ambiguity and streamline execution.
  • Organizational Design: Manage, mentor, and scale a tiered organization of Engineering Managers and Software Engineers.
  • Platform-as-a-Product: Shift the team culture toward treating internal services as products focused on delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that are adopted easily for use by internal customers.
  • Partner Alignment: Collaborate with engineering peers, product leadership, and sales representatives to ensure the platform delivers on the company’s business goals and product pillars.
  • Cultivate Leadership: You aren't just managing engineers; you are building the next generation of leaders. You will instill a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Leader of Leaders: 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years managing managers in organizations of 50+ people.
  • SaaS Scale: Proven experience leading the architectural evolution of complex cloud-native SaaS platforms.
  • Change Management: A track record of introducing change to high-talent teams that resulted in measurable increases in velocity.
  • AI Vision: Experience or a strong thesis on integrating AI tools into the developer workflow to drive productivity.
  • Influence: Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and align technical roadmaps with product and business needs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Pay Range: [$230,000 – $265,000 annually] In accordance with applicable law, this represents a reasonable estimated compensation range for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location and may be more or less than the amount shown above. Outside of base compensation, CloudBees also offer stock options and variable bonuses.
